You do come off as an asshole, but those people are the coolest of the bunch. The only thing that pissed me off was the "attention grab" comment. Other than that I got your sincerity.

There are a bunch of reasons I brought up this whole subject:

1. I come across as a very forceful person. I think that people will say anything to your face, and it's not really what they think. I guess that this one doesn't really apply over the internet.

2. I don't really trust anybody. I need to double-check everything.

3. Unless it's harsh or strict, I don't really believe it.

4. Recenty, as of a few days before I posted this subject, a friend of mine told me that him and a group of our friends were talking about me. He said he defended me though. I asked him what he was defending me from, and he said that some one brought up the Idea that they didn't like my writings and he said they sucked. I hit hard. Especially because I really looked up to this kid musicly.

5. I mostly ask girls if they like my stuff. This one is kind of like #1, but it's worse. Some of these girls like me. And just to say it again----*People will tell you anything!!!!!*----

Though he came off a bit harsh and As seizure says it's sort of who he is... He is pretty much right. I wouldn't take what people say to heart.. Most of my friends know I write poetry, write and preform music, and have a website but few have read it or ever been to my site and I kind of like it when they don't come to my proformances. Personally I like it that way for just the reasons mentioned above.

I don't want things glossed over. I don't even mind negative comments long as they are backed up by the persons reason and not a misspelled, unprovoked personal attack. Those I remove from the site as they have nothing to do with poetry but with some bored immature jerk who has nothing else to do but stir up trouble. I have not removed any such comments on your poems either.

I can understand your asking after being shot down by an aquaintence feeling a bit insecure.. Just be secure in yourself. If you are like me you are your worst critiquing enemy anyway...

I agree with what dreamer says, but feel sure that no-one would give a good comment unless they meant it . I haven't time to comment on all the poems I would like, so those I have commented on have struck a chord with me for one reason or another.
Everyone has a different way of expressing themselves...some like...some don't! Some friends just like to take the p!*s anyway, so I'd ignore!! could be a bit of envy involved!!
Just trust yourself !
