To Be Human
3 June, 2005
Author: Holly
We loathe, we fear,
We drive ourselves insane.
Kill others, and ourselves
Inflict unnecessary pain.
Have the power to create,
But make bad things.
Don’t look at the consequences,
Each action brings.
Think we’re on top,
But we’re the weakest.
The future we give ourselves,
Is really the bleakest.
We change and manipulate,
What we really do is spoil.
Things that were beautiful,
Now ruined by toil.
Does anyone hear when animals cry?
Would you eat your own cat?
Then why eat any other animal,
How do you answer that?
We as humans aren’t even equal,
Some of us are billionaires.
While others try to stay alive,
I’m looking for someone who cares.
It’s human nature to destroy ourselves,
We really don’t know what’s best.
Once the human race finally dies out,
The rest of the world can rest.

Mike (82.35.78.155) -- Saturday, June 4 2005, 01:15 pm You're captured the full essence of human life. We "Fight for Peace", but how can a war bring peace? We kill for pleasure, with no remorse. We do all these wrong things, knowing they're wrong, and yet we don't stop. This poem is very expressive, even if it makes me think of you as a tree hugger |
