According To You
6 June, 2005
Author: Very Shy
According to you
nothing is your fault
a little criticism and you react with rage
seeking out the weak element
to crush all opposing opinion
with self righteous fervour.
A mass of little things,
trivial to the impartial perspective
become the monstrous injustices that are the platform
from which you wage your ugly campaign.
Yet your own wrongs
you casually misdirect your attention from
hoping that they too can be repressed
like the painful memories of the needs unmet which drive you.
The world is changing
and the wrongs you have done
are but thinly veiled, such that even a child can see them,
and you fear and loath the child with the audacity
to see what is coming plainly into view.
According to you
My gaze is the thousand mile stare
of the battle fatigued victim... or
Do I make you nervous when I patronise your bullshit,
while my eyes may hint to you I am swallowing none of it?
The day is at hand when, again,
you can attempt to stifle dissent and outrage with threats and voilence,
yet soon it will no longer work,
and the serious work of begining at home to right the wrongs
and the burden of facing your own iniquities
will be upon you.
According to you
I appear as a fool
who you certainly can confound with your lame untruths,
An insignificant other you can decieve once again
to your gain and my loss,
and leave me apologising for it.
Your pettiness makes me sick,
I despair for the human condition as I see a world abounding
with people like you.
Using and taking every little advantage,
And making what good you do
seem like the passion of the christ all over again
I would try to make an effort to correct you,
but every time I begin, the words I use just don’t seem to register,
and the shock of laying it all on the table
would make it impossible for you to maintain any semblance of civility.
And we need civility, at any cost because...
According to you
everything’s ok.
