Meditation On A Summer Salad
13 June, 2005
Author: Pondering Red
I thought of making a salad today
for you.
So,I started at the farmers market,
carefully selecting the freshest
organic vegetables;
the greener and redder the better.
A delightful walk past quaint shops-
people sipping drinks at outdoor cafes-
bicyclists passing by-
the scent of a sweet summer sunday.
At home making my selections-
soothing mantras playing in my head-
blending the ingredients-
lightly tossing the succulent
deep green leaves.
Strawberries with spinach-
maybe some chiles for a picante flavor!
Inhale and delight-
mind focused - meditate on
the designs of the leaves-
the path it took to bring this here-
the earth - the farmers
a truly zen experience.
The energy in the air is exhilerating.
There are flowers in the sky.
The afternoon lighting is at it's best-
truly a kodak digital moment.
The chimes signal your arrival.
I place the painted bowls
of salad down
on the wooden table
in the backyard,
shaded by a green archways of lush leaves-
sunlight twinkling through.
Well..
"You can't go wrong with a salad.."
rolls off your lips..
I bite a red pepper piece
in half
and a realization
dawns over me..
this may be your last salad here-
i savour the dressing..
delicious..
