The Fair

The night itself was perfect,
Childhood magic filled the air;
And on this night, being attatched to another,
You, of all people, expressed that you care.
Our galavanting was all innocent fun,
Just friends walking through a fantasy land;
But never once did I suspect
That I would find out first hand.
It was as we were leaving,
From eachother having to part,
That you brushed your lips across my cheek
And what you said completely melted my heart.
"I miss you," you whispered,
Looking at me in your little way,
Reprocussion was my only thought -
My current other wasn't in my mind at the end of that day.
Bittersweet are my memories of the night,
Scented with candy and lit with bright colored beams,
And often enough, myself I've wondered:
Was it really real, or was it all just a dream?

Wrote this on an amazing night. Wow, if I'd known then what I know now...
