Why Do I Care?

Author: The Unrequited Dream
If it were easy to pretend I didn't care,
Maybe it would be easier to accept that you don't;
If you didn't mean as much as you do to me,
I could possibly pick up and move on.
My affections weren't really understood,
And by me, yours were misconcepted;
So my words and efforts were wasted,
My feelings meant nothing to you.
Though my heart was bore to the core,
Laying there on the table as proof to you
That my feelings were genuine and I was true,
You still couldn't see through your blindness.
If ever someone could care for me
As much as I care for you, I don't think
I would hesitate to appreciate and take in
Their affections and give them a chance to win my heart.
