Benefit Man
18 June, 2005
Author: Ben Franklin
Mummy used to work all day,
grafting to put food on the table,
daddy sat at home in his chair all day,
playing nintendo,
claiming benefit,
prentending he is disabled,
A dodgy leg he says he has,
limping from one place to the other,
my dads a liar
who claims benefit,
while REAL people,
with REAL problems
suffer,
he was either in his chair with a can,
or down the local boozer,
My dad's really never been a role model,
my mums the winner everytime,
my dads the loser,
He never gave a damn about my education,
the saying..."daddys your rock",
to me now is just a fabrication.
He always spoke to my mum like dirt,
demanding that she cooked,
one day my mother answered back,
so she got a mean right hook.
Mum decided that
enough was enough.
We left in the middle of the night,
settled down out of town,
and tried to put our bad memories out of sight.
You were never known as daddy,
I was not your best freind,
neither was I your number 1 fan,
to me you were just simply know as
"BENEFIT MAN"
------- Author's Notes -------
This poem came about whilst reading a newspaper article. A man has been claiming disability allowance, totaling up to £17000. He claimed he had a really bad back. They caught him on hoilday in florida wrestling with an allegator! Cant stand people like that living the high life, while others really suffer. |

Meridian (205.188.116.203) -- Monday, June 20 2005, 06:34 pm B, that man in your poem should be ashamed of himself now, after being caught and all. You can lose people's trust. I recall watching an episode of Judge Judy where the defendant's son accidentally bumped into her, bruising her ankle and injuring her back a little. This took place in the grocery store, btw. The defendant was very apologetic, and said he would do anything to make the situation better. She went to the doctor and did have a few medical bills, and the defendant paid him all. |
Meridian (205.188.116.203) -- Monday, June 20 2005, 06:35 pm The following year, she's still trying to get money from him and the defendant soon realized it was a scam. The lady was hurt, but she was greedy too. She sued the defendant but her case was later thrown out and dismissed. I was glad with the judge's decision. Excellent poem B, just excellent! |
Meridian (205.188.116.203) -- Monday, June 20 2005, 06:36 pm 'Her' means the plantiff, the boy didn't bump into Judge Judy, I forgot to add the word plantiff in there. |
