Poor Old Man
22 June, 2005
Author: Terrie*
poor old man
sits in his humble home
day and night
stares out the window
poor old man
dyin' slowly
doesn't answer the phone
won't answer his door
poor old man
withers away
with no one to touch
no one to hold
poor old man
all alone
doesn't eat the food
the neighbors take
poor old man
rocks himself to sleep
has no one
with whom to speak
poor old man
whom used to tend to his garden
refuses to go outside
poor old man
lost his soul
when he was threatened
to be removed from his home
poor old man
with a broken heart,
let him be
poor old man
give him back his dignity
he worked hard all his life
poor old man
has rights, he can refuse
to be taken out of his home
poor old man
was found died on his rockin' chair
holdin' a picture
of his humble little home
poor old man
society killed him
little day by day
tryin' to remove him from his home
------- Author's Notes -------
sometimes society thinks, just because one is elderly and alone, that they need to be placed in a rest home. |
