I'm sitting in the middle of the floor, counting penny's and dimes
It took some time to find that jar, after all, I have a two room home
I hear the mail man pass me by, go back to counting penny's and dimes
I hear the sound of a phone, must be from another neighborhood, I have no phone
Okay, $6.35 in change, I walk to the drug-store, only place with a pay phone
I place a call to her, so, far away, I hear it ring, then hear her voice, Hi, dad
How are you doing and thanks for the birthday card, I hear her cry when she asks
Are you okay? I'm so ashamed, mom was laid to rest, and I could not make the trip home
We understand, your mom and I know how busy your are, your mom undrestands
She wants to know how are you doing, is that new company car, what you dreamed
So, beautiful you are, you deserve a new car to drive around, sorry dear, I have to go
We say, goodbye, the operator asks for one more dime, I have it in my pocket
I reach deep, always wanted to have deep pockets, place the dime in the slot
Your voice, is already gone, so, I hang up the phone and walk, back home
I have two rooms, one to store my penny's and dimes, one to store my love
For you and your mom, another in my heart to store, all my
Faith
