For You

Author: Davey Boy
And now I die for you
I come to the realization that you will never change
And that I won't get back the years I lived in shame
I now realize that me lyin' to them and to you
Was to help keep alive
The little hope of happiness that I kept inside
In the end you thought that I was helpin' you
But you didnt see that I was protectin' me
Not me
But what used to be
The little boy you see
Yet...Yet don't see
The one who never had a happy family
With a dog a white picket fence and two parents
Yet the little boy tells me to protect you from harm
To help you in hope that you would help yourself
And still knowin' you wouldn't I turned a blind eye to it
Until now
Until I was "man" enough to realize
That I don't have a parent
I have a child trapped in an adults body
Someone who is supposed to be old and wise
Yet does things that arouse no surprise
So predictable
You fall
I protect you
You stand up tall
Then you trip yourself again
I'm sick of it
So now I'm sayin' nothin'
You'll have to find a way to speak up for yourself
To the people who you don't want to know your secret
Tell them that your weak
Tell them that your broke
Tell them that there is no hope
But most of all tell yourself that your addicted
That your a victim too
Not like it matters anymore
I DIED FOR YOU

Gina (72.47.40.224) -- Wednesday, August 8 2007, 01:50 am I've been clean for over 3 years. It breaks my heart to think I could've done things like that to my children. I'm glad you can express the pain you felt, still feel..,I'm just sorry for it. But, truth like what is in your poem sets us free. Thank you for your honesty. Remember when we love people we let them learn from their own mistakes. |
