In The Sweet Waters Of Our Love Lake
4 July, 2005
Author: Terrie*
thank you for your patience
thank you for your love
my wishes came true
now i'm layin'
right next to you
under a lovers moon
in the sweet waters of our love Lake
where i first meet you
layin' out all night
holdin' one another so tight
watchin' the fireworks
from our own little island
across the way
from far away
we would seem like a grand performance to the naked eye
as our silouettes glowed in the light
yet i doubt any one thought
to look at us twice
i'm sure all the cheerin'
along with the Ohhhhs and ahhhhs
were for the firework display
as we shared a moment
of passion of our own
under the steamy romantic moon light
cain you remember
how i kept movin' away
from you?
i wasn't ready
to share my space
i was just eighteen
and you were twenty-eight
after many attempts by you
you wouldn't give up
i finally married you
by the time i was twenty-two
i cain recall the many pubs
that we all got kicked out
durin' our dates
not cause we did anything wrong
cause ,our friend Ed's date was upset
when he kept askin' me to slow dance
over and over again
she told them i was under age
and well i was just celebratin'
my 20th that day
glad we were well liked
for someone to warn us
before the cops showed up
i felt bad cause you and your friends
left with me
oh we were darin'
were we not
i had flirtatious ways
but it was all in total innocence
yet i always got my way
spoiled yes i am
and spoil me you did
oh how they thought you would corrupt me
they just didn't know the spark i hid in me
those were the times
when love was carefree
just like you and i
this is our first as husband and wife
i tip my champagne glass
to another happy 4th of July
with you at my side
