Apathy

You only care about the truth when it's on your doorstep,
No point in getting crazy.
You'd love to take the time to care about everyone,
But in truth you're just too lazy.

When Britain gets attacked,
You kick up such a fuss.
Yet it happens in Iraq almost every day,
Are they not a part of us?

We're all human,
We feel the same sun, look up at the same sky.
But you're pumped-up with British pride,
May I ask why?

After all, it was our leader,
Who agreed to go to war.
Make the rich even richer,
And send out the poor.

You've had a lucky escape so far,
But don't count your blessings just yet.
The way this is going, we'll all be gone soon,
No one left to even regret.

Because this is the way we're killing ourslves,
Letting apathy dwarf us all.
So don't be surprised when it's you in the cross-fire,
Watching the bodies fall.

Sorry to shatter your porcelain heart,
But we've been killing ourselves from the start.
Maybe if we all took the time to care,
Each innocent person would still be there.

------- Author's Notes -------

I gather that this one is probably quite confusing. Basically, after what happened in London, people were in uproar about what had happened, yet it happens in other countries constantly, but no one seems to care. And it was our leader who caused it to happen in these other countries. I'm just saying it's OK to care about those in your own country, but try caring about everyone, and maybe so many people wouldn't be in poverty. Hmm, I could be wrong, but this is just my thoughts.

Apathy

i can understand your point. it doent matter who the people are, or where it is they come from. we should all have the right to live and survive without fear. it the the people we most rely on to lead us day to day that cause so much chaos and destruction. if it weren't for these people we would have no fear to travel to work each morning, no fear to go to bed each night, worriying whether we'll be safe for another day. thanks for sharing your thoughts.
