World Of Make Believe
11 July, 2005
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
Lost in a moment in a world of make believe
Cares and troubles wash away from existence
Clouds take on shapes of ink blot psychiatry
As we continue to move our feet
To keep the distant deer from biting
Pretending for a moment all is right with the world
Putting our ears beneath the surface
Floating to the rhythm of the water and a heartbeat
The world's cares are silenced
The gray haired lady in blue is a ghost
Of some lost past that only we can see
A make believe bag lady who lives at the beach
Lies tanning beneath the darkened sky
Or does she
Lost for a moment in our make believe world
Clouds slowly dissipating till they no longer hold form
Flying saucers are gone and the turkey took flight
As the Purple Martins overhead take chase
As the darkness overcame we had to face up
And go back. We greeted the cold realities of life's wind
No more inkblot clouds, no underwater biting deer
The Blue lady greeting her daughter, now invisible to none
We drove home in near silence.
Our pretend world gone
Reality slipped back into play
It was the end to a near perfect pretend day
------- Author's Notes -------
Sometimes people need a day to just forget their troubles and feel like a child again. Going back to a time when pretend was excepted as normal. |
