Frida

I see Frida in the Plateau Mount Royal-
still the heart of artistic trendy multi ethnic
montreal-
strolling on st denis - st laurent
and all the alleyway worlds,
off the beaten track pathways
only the residents know about.
hiding her anguish and pain at times-
waving at people chatting bantering-
arms full of fresh cut depanneur flowers-
vegetables and rainbow fruits,
stopping at many cafe bars.
- la vie en rose -
exchanging views political left-
chugging down the tequila-
banging the table with the
shooter glass and her radical views.
She,bright as ever
in ethnic jewellry turquoise silver bangles,
embroidered mexican
floral bright coloured attire,
and tidy blackest hair
letting loose now-
braids unravelling
as her views and adventures unfold into paintings.
Frida in ths city-
joyous-
every thought and perception
contributing to clarty later
for her canvases of some say surreal art.
"it's not dreams i paint- it's reality." she says
she heartily denies the claim.
fridamania - frida cult
feminist sensual experimental Frida.
the torturous colourful lifes and personalitys
outweigh the artists work.
would an artist be as popular
if their lives were not as tormented?
some say this is wrong.
focus on the canvas.
i don't buy this.
what is the work without the story of the life ?
hand in hand they travel
as frida, joyous
holds onto montreals charms.
brilliant summer reflecting
frida -
exciting independent,
not being overshadowed by the
large shadow of diego,
off somewhere on his own,
splattering revolutionary paint on
revolutionary walls.
fiesta of frida-
siphoning in mental images
for future brush strokes,
often shockingly spirited.
frida lives and thrives in montreal !
