First Time, Since He Was Six Years Old
6 August, 2005
Author: ShyHeart
Since he was six years old, he always played in the streets
Thought passing cars, were toys he never owned
Thought the honking horns, were just part of the game
He played and dared anyone to say, tag, you are it
He had a mom so, he was told, but doesn't even remember her name
Now, age eighteen, still on his own, tonight he plays on the rail-road track
Dares anyone to say, tag, you are it, as he sees the train, first bright light
He has seen, since he was six and played alone, in the streets
He thinks, who smiles at who as you come to take my soul away
I see your smile for the first time, since I was six years old
Now, I'm eighteen and still alone, but with your smile, not for long
I'll find someone who was never there for me as I see your bright light smile
Standing here, its not desperation, just a way out of here
So, he smiles at the light as he did when he was six years old
Didn't even know his mother's name, yet tonight he sees her smile
At age eighteen he is finally at home, back into his mother's arms
