The Dream Of Being Immortal
11 August, 2005
Author: ShyHeart
One night I prayed, God let me live forever, I love her so
God replied, can you survive immortality, If I give it to you?
I said yes, I will love her forever as she loves me for eternity
Then, God said, I grant your request for immortality, behold
As the years passed she became old and feeble, then one night
She said to me, I remember when you said you loved me and
Ask me to be your wife, I said yes and after all these years
You look the same, our children have children, yet, you look the same
As I lay on God's bed, I want you to know, my love for you is immortal
My love will never die, and as she tried to smile in my arms, she slipped away
I cried, as I saw our children one at a time, follow her to a peaceful sleep
Yet, I am blessed with immortality, and my heart weeps, but it never sleeps
One night I prayed, God let me live forever, I love her so
God replied, can you survive immortality, if I give it to you?
I said yes, I will love her forever as she loves me, for eternity
Then God said, I grant your request for immortality, behold

Being immortal is like a farmer trying to raise a family he loves and all he gets, for his efforts is dust, there is no rain, just love. |
