This Phoenix Will Rise
30 August, 2005
Author: Devilyangelic
In the fetal position I once lay,
never knowing I could fly away.
From all of my pain lifting myself from this floor,
as I know in my heart that I deserve more.
So I climb to my knees,
finally seeing the woods through the trees.
A glimmer of hope that flickers so bright,
so deep in me I search for my might.
Slowly I rise and make a stand,
in a bid to leave behind me this painful land.
Knowing only too well where I go from here,
as I say goodbye to my every fear.
Walking away at a steady pace,
stronger than ever as my past I face.
Refusing to lay down and die,
I realise now is the time to fly.
My newfound wings I slowly spread,
ready to soar to where I once feared to tread.
Leaving behind my shattered dreams,
that like my childhood were ripped at the seams.
Yet somehow I find the courage within,
to know that this is where my life will begin.
Insignificant ashes beneath me as I head toward the skies,
I am reborn as I know THIS PHOENIX WILL RISE!!!
