Your Spirit Lifted Me
30 August, 2005
Author: Terrie*
As I sit In silence
Only my heartbeat do I hear
While I watch the waterfall
From beyond the distance
Of this life that I behold
The Eagles fly overhead
Headin’ to the mountain top
The shimmer in the stream
A reflection of a rainbow
And the beauty of the clouds
that slowly drift over me
I wait for a sign
Tellin’ me that life has just woke up
and the beauty that I see
Is a vision of the gift given to me
you open up my heart for me to see
I hear the laughter of a child
Such joy over comes me
As he wraps his tiny arms around me
I came here thinkin’
I was in need of a shoulder to cry on
But instead I became a heart to share
I hear a mother in the distance
As she cries in distress
I walk over and offer my heart displayed in my hand
She accepts my hug, wipes her eyes
hands me a flower dipped in her tears
The only part of herself she had left to offer
I sit here in the tribe of my nation
I pray and hope for things to be
I share an honored word
With the wisest among the chiefs
you opened up a window
close to my heart
and revealed what i seen
I pray and chant in silence
Of the many things that passed
And thank the spirits for the many things that are
The prayers of all nations
Among the tribes fallen chiefs .
All is heard from inside this heart of mine
Like the waterfall that is beyond the distance
Listen to it in silence
As you listen to it’s beat
