Dolphin

It was on a deep blue river that I first saw it,
it was the way it touched the soul of me that I now know it.
It was nothing it said because it can't speak,
it was the beautiful blueness of its beak.
I fell in love from then on,
but now I'm left with none.
So what am I to do,
all I ever think about is blue?
Because that's its colour; the colour that I love.
When it jumps from the water I can barely see,
when it's up in the air it's all I want to be.
I can't describe the feeling it gives,
all I know is with it I want to live.
It gives me joy,
like a child with a new toy.
It's a part of me deep down inside,
all I know is with it I long to be beside.
Now somebody's killed it,
the dream I want I'll have to miss.
But in my heart forever it'll stay,
though it's dead it'll never go away.
There'll be others but never like mine,
it was on it's back which the moonlight did shine!!!
------- Author's Notes -------
I put this under the 'confusion' category as it was written on my 17th birthday and to be honest if you had a gun to my head I couldn't tell you what it is about. This poem was the first one I ever wrote but that still doesn't help me to be honest. I wrote it from just looking at a poster of a dolphin leaping from the water!so go figure eh? Whey reckon I've rambled enough now so I'm away! |
