Facade

Author: Charmaine
Sometimes I wonder if this fight is worthwhile,
To work so hard and to walk that extra mile.
Plastering a smile and putting on a mask,
It's getting harder each day, this awful task.
Holding onto these memories with all my might,
Everyone asks me, why hold on so tight?
The stupid things I put myself through, I'm such a fool,
But you don't seem to care, you’re just so cool.
Each and every day I feel myself fading,
My broken heart just doesn't seem to be mending.
I smile and act like everything is good,
Truth be told I'm just not in the mood.
I wish I could run to a faraway place,
Where I never have to see anyone's face.
In a world where you and I can then both start anew,
Where smiles are many and tears are few.
