Lukewarm Tears

A distant memory fills my mind.
Slowly the way we were begins to unwind.
Words of love in the book of us we created.
Lay heavy on my mind though they are so belated.

Still ever so gently they tug at my heart.
How can the end of us be nigh when I see us at the start?
Fresh faced lovers taking our first steps as we.
I see so clear yet it is a long time memory.

Confusion sets in as I try to understand.
Why I'm reminiscing of what you let slip through your hands?
Maybe I'll miss you, maybe I won't?
Perhaps you loved me, but why say you don't?

I don't know why these thoughts are in my head?
So I turn my mind to better things instead.
Things that I love which is not you anymore.
Here I am standing tall, not going to cower on the floor.

Those days are behind me I'm a better woman than you'll ever know.
I see so clearly that it was the best thing for you to go.
My life is mapping out nicely and I don't need to fight.
Nor struggle to gain a glimpse of the light.

For it shines down on me and will for the rest of my days.
Waking up my cheeks are filled with warmth from the sunrays.
Should I cry again after all of these years?
No as you've had more than enough of my LUKEWARM TEARS!!
