Higher Threshold For Pain

Give me back my heart, it's not yours anymore?
You can't keep my love when it's not me who you adore.
You broke it once, you'll not do it again.
Give me what you stole and take away my pain?
You're welcome to my pain and heartache as well.
You're even allowed to pity me because for you I fell.
But I'm certain you'll not want my pain or heartache.
You're only interested in what you find easy to break.
My fragile heart is all that catches your eye.
But you can't make me fall again as I'm too scared to try.
These words it would seem you do not comprehend.
As I lay awake all night, trying my best to mend.
The part of me that once more you have broken.
All because of those harsh words you've spoken.
Tears on my face and another crack in my heart.
Helplessly I fail to stop myself from falling apart.
But you've got what you came for, so you're nowhere to be found.
Sitting here in darkness, my sobbing the only sound.
I realise now just what a fool I've been.
I hate myself for not seeing for what everyone else seen.
Piece by piece I'm putting my life back together.
I know now what it is to never say never.
I wasn't so sure I'd get through this again.
But I guess since meeting you I must have a HIGHER THRESHOLD FOR PAIN!!!
