Summer's End

As the last of summer's days begin to slowly fade
I'm left with heartbreak again, as we go our separate ways
Week after week friends almost seem to disappear
Leaving me alone, the last of who's here..

I guess I tried to avoid what was soon to be inevitable
But our time, our memories are all unforgettable
It's only at this time that my heart feels this way
Tears still flow thinking of you at the airport gates..

I watched as you looked back with tears in your eyes
Each step breaking off a piece of this heart of mine
Then you were gone, behind those doors you went
Leaving me standing, watching, waiting for you again..

It seems almost impossible to miss you this much
Knowing I'm mere hours away from your sweet touch
Please ease my pain and come back home
I promise if you do, I'll never let you go..

bittersweet

Hey Brett! This poem is a tear-jerker. Sweet poem. Darn sweet poem. The hardest thing is to say goodbye. Especially, someone who's had a big impact on your life, and wondering if you'll ever get the chance to meet again. Sweeeet poem Brett!
