My Truest Friend, Is My Shadow

Author: ShyHeart
You and I were born at the same time, together we shared our first touch of
God's Sun-Light. You have always been at my side, and I love your sense of Humor
Sometimes you do this little dance and try to fool me, as friends often do.
Here I am beside you, now I'm in front of you, now like magic, I dance
Behind you, we both laugh in silence, I've never had a friend, as true as you
Sometimes I want to take a walk and be all by myself, there you are
Like a puppy walking beside my heart, I try and scold and say
I want to be alone, got some things I need to work out go, back home!
You look up at me, with my own heart and ask? Do you want to really
Be alone? I smile and say no, we have been together for to long
Hey shadow, sometimes I think where would I be without you at my side
How far do I need to walk alone, before I realize my love is in my heart
You are the wizard and walk with me, as I try and figure things out
Never have you left me, always like a silent thought you are at my side
Hey shadow, I have a question, we have been together since we were born
So, where do you go, when the sun goes to sleep? Where is home for you?
Wondered, where do you go when the Sun goes down, and you dance no More?
Just wondered, where does my best life-long friend go?
Am I a soul, left to its own resources when you go, where do you go?
As the sun begins to fade, my life long friend replies... where do I go?
I go home with you and if you don't walk faster I'll be home before you
I laugh at my friend, the sun has gone down, my friend has disappeared
I walk through my front door, turn the lights on OH, you beat me home
I've never had a friend like my shadow, see he beat me home, I'm not alone
