Loved And Lost
5 October, 2005

‘Tis true, love is a fickle thing.
It comes and goes upon the wing.

It soars to heights beyond the stars,
Then leaves thy soul with empty scars.

But if it’s truly in thy heart,
It shall remain, it can’t depart.

Its power can enthrall the soul,
And cause a mind to lose control.

But if somehow this love should fail,
Or one is called beyond the veil,

Thy heart and soul shall not find peace,
For true love’s song shall never cease.

A song sung with thy final breath,
Then taken with thee into death.

And even there it shall pervade,
Not even death can make it fade.

Better to pay the lonely cost,
Than be the one who loved and lost.

I don't know.

I think I'd rather have loved and lost. Great poem though.

It is a curse

True love never dies Megan. If you part, it doesn’t just go away. Finding someone new doesn’t push your true love out of your heart, and, often, there is not enough room in your heart for a new love. Yes, I have truly loved. But she is no longer with me, and I still carry only her in my heart. I will die alone. You tell me if that is something you would rather have. True love is as much a curse as it is a blessing.
