From Across The Way
12 October, 2005
Author: Terrie*
I though my heart would deflate
I thought the warmth of love
would die and evaporate
As it was destined to above
I felt my tears
Flow out some what fast and flood
Me with pain and fears
my heart drained of his blood
For a paused time, you said ..I know
he has Work to do still far away
Just remember he loved you so
More so today
so much in the words you said
So much time has passed
We always agreed in so many things
as i sit and think of the past
Taken back to that lil' café
where you, your son and I
shared our first cup of friendship that remains strong today
Sharin’ our hearts and soul
Of loved one’s that moved on
memories buried, unfold
We felt like we had meet before
Impossible though
nither one of us ever walked beyond life's door
I guess we just felt comfortable
in one another’s company
as we sat across one another in that lil' cafe
I cain still remember
your soft tender touch upon my bare shoulder
On that mild windy day, in the middle of September
with a compassionate voice
you asked me if I was alright
When you heard a heart's painful noise
From across the way
impossible i thought, how could it be?
for you to hear every whisper, every sound from far away
was it, could it have been me?
i thought to myself, I was cryin’ in silence
yet he heard
The tears that splashed in my heart from a great distance
Thank you Don
From the whole of my heart
For this friendship so blessed
All that know me
Know, I take my friendships seriously
Every single one has great meanin’ to me
All are Angels unawares
Nothin’ greater compares
To a friendship's touch
