Unrequited
25 October, 2005
Author: Mukhthar
Alone, innocent I came here,
Living everyday in fear;
You helped me settle,
Included me in your circle.
I progressed with Time,
Valuing your company,
Which grew increasingly rare,
You were trapped in Ego's snare.
As the tiger prowls at night ,
I roamed the streets,
Witnessing the city's beauteous sights,
Savoring it's ecstasy-laced treats.
Your ephemeral love was hypnotic,
But I was an eternal romantic;
Now I have morphed into this warrior,
And broken free from the cerebral barrier.
Still possessed of the thirst-
For Unrequited Love;
This Fiendish Heart is cursed,
To prey on Hell's star-crossed doves
------- Author's Notes -------
This poem relates to some very diverse experiences- my first teen crush, maturing as a person and disillusionment with the opposite sex before I even knew them. |
