It Always Gets You
25 October, 2005
Author: Mike
I see the scar on your head.
The tell-tale sign emblazoned upon your scalp.
They ripped apart your mind,
Filling it with what THEY want you to know.
Brainwashing you.
Giving you THEIR values.
And you believed them.
They've taken your soul,
piece by piece,
Filling it with their propaganda.
Robots.
Machines of the system which fails us
time
and
again.
Made you believe that 'different' is
wrong.
Evil.
You left me.
Forgot me.
Traitor.

Meridian (64.12.116.197) -- Friday, October 28 2005, 05:35 am Hey poet! The title seems like a translation of "it's like it's only a matter of time". But I hear you in this poem. Outstanding words and self-expression! Always! In dealing with those that take what they hear and running with it without really scrutinizing the rumors and gossip, I think this poem goes with the saying mind over matter. Instead of saying, "my friend wouldn't say or do that", they are so green in being drawn in by expert liars tales' that they can't help themselves. Our "ex-friends" believe what they wanna believe because the more juicier the story, the more credible it is....at least, to them. Once again wonderful wording Mike! P.S. I didn't miss the point in your poem did I? LOL |
Emma (86.1.48.222) -- Friday, October 28 2005, 01:06 pm Fabulous. :) I like it. Especially, "You left me. Forgot me. Traitor." Very 'powerful' as such. o_o |
