The Best Time, To Write A Poem by ShyHeart

The best time to write a poem, is when you are so happy, tears fall down
Or when you are so sad and have no place to go, or when you just feel
A need to visit places, you seldom go to, like your own soul, feel the touch
Feel the touch, before it fades, write it down before, your feet touch the ground

Crazy, I know, who am I to give advice to a poet, whose words are always true
Always from the heart, who am I to give advice to a poet who writes about truth
Who am I to say the best time to write a poem, who am I, who am I, I am you
So, tell me, when do you lay your heart out in unforgiving words, of truth?

Surely, not in a crowd with the high school band passing by
Or, in the coffee shop, as you sit by yourself, watching cars fly by
Or when you are having dinner with a friend, now, your heart wonders
When is the best time to write a poem, I guess its when, you feel your heart

I loved this poem Martin, I loved the way you addressed the poets as they are and as they always will be. I love the last line "When is the best time to write a poem, I guess its when, you feel your heart"...because that is all so true. Beautiful Poem Martin! Beautiful!

The best time to write a poem is when the heart speaks without restraints,and there is no fear of disclosing from the readers one's secrets of the heart..cage the moment in words for if the time elapses the words are set free never to come again...so write when the moment flows in you. good poem!
