You Just Don't Get It

I made myself trust you
I thought that it would last
I made myself forget my heart
Cracking, breaking so fast
But you were just the last straw
You finally broke the string
That was holding me here
In spite of everything
You just don’t get it
Not everything’s about you
I won’t give you the credit
For breaking my heart
You just don’t get it
It’s been crumbling forever
So go out and spread it
That my heart isn’t glass
I’ve had my heart broken
More times than I can count
No words of pain were spoken
From a silence, so profound
And I was already torn
When you came to me
And I was just so worn
Blind to what I should see
You just don’t get it
Not everything’s about you
I won’t give you the credit
For breaking my heart
You just don’t get it
It’s been crumbling forever
So go out and spread it
That my heart isn’t glass
There’s a hole in my heart
That hurts when the wind blows through
And your nothing but a gentle breeze
But I still can’t forgive you
And I’ve withstood rainstorms
So my heart was damaged before
You were just the last blow
That pushed me to the floor
You just don’t get it
Not everything’s about you
I won’t give you the credit
For breaking my heart
You just don’t get it
It’s been crumbling forever
So go out and spread it
That my heart isn’t glass
I’m not a china doll
Made to be broken
You won’t get my tears
As a sorrowful token
Of the control you held
No, you weren’t the boss
I can’t dare let myself
Reveal to you my loss
You just don’t get it
Not everything’s about you
I won’t give you the credit
For breaking my heart
You just don’t get it
It’s been crumbling forever
So go out and spread it
That my heart isn’t glass
You just don’t get it
