Confidence is a privilege
Permitted to the strong
If I had an ounce of self-esteem
I wouldn’t be crooning this song
To myself in the dark
Where I am most afraid
That the reaper will ask a price
That cannot be repaid
I pretend that I’m apathetic
But I know that can’t be true
When I’m feeling so much pain
I’ve been robbed of all virtue
I was so naïve
Trusting and Forgiving
But that was when I was young
When I had life worth living
There’s no point in trying anymore
My heart is fragile glass
I don’t have the will to try anymore
My mind has become immoral and crass
I swear I’d give anything
To have my old life back
But my eyes are completely blank
And I’ve forgotten how to laugh
I’m too weak to kill myself
Because I fear the same
Thought I know what’s coming
Because my life will stay the same
The emotion has become predictable
I know where I’ll be in the end
My family is finally recognizing it
And they’ll be smart enough to send
Me to the mental institution
Because I know that’s where I belong
I’m becoming impatient
Why’s it taking so long
I want to finally leave
I want to be educed with
Mind-numbing drugs
I want to be among my people
I want to be a slow-minded slug
I have no future
I lack the care
I’m cruel-minded
I have a blank stare
Who cares anymore
No one it seems
My only escapes
Are my tortured dreams
