Mellower Times
19 November, 2005
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
I still hear the music of my younger days
But I listen with a grain of salt
I have turned down the volume slightly
as I happily sing along
Songs of an almost forgotten time
Memories only invoked now by a tune
Knowing that I really enjoyed my days
when music was the inspiration of my ways
Now I listen to a mellower tune
as my wild days have become a memory
I enjoy reliving only in a melody or two
I am content with the music I now think is cool
Youthful lust has changed to impassioned contentment
A wild one night stand has changed to a caring life sharing relationship
The songs of immediate gratification are now of a forever love
I guess, of the one night stands, I had enough
I once shimmied and shook to a heavy metal beat
and now I think a nice slow dance is pretty neat
I really enjoyed my rock and roll life
but now, even more, I love being a country lovin' wife

Sometimes letting go of the past isn't a bad thing. Sometimes it's just a change in a point of view. |

Tammy (66.38.4.108) -- Saturday, November 19 2005, 06:14 pm I remember these days, Rock, and Roll all the way, head banging to the sound, stomping your feet upon the ground... now I think if I was to bang my head, and stomp my feet, I would truly need to see the doc, cause I would have hurt something inside...lol, Great Poem hun, I loved it!!!! |
