Winter

The cancer spreads inside me
As the cold winds thaw my heart.
I sit staring at the grey sky,
Wondering why it reflects my very being.
Is there a mirror above me that can reach into my soul,
Showing the emotions I try so hard to keep hidden?
A pallet of darkness
Stretching across
Forever,
Sheltering me from the sun's
Harsh kiss.
Clouding the bright horizon
From my tender gaze.
Isolating me ffrom the world,
An island within a sea of people.
Alone.
Empty.
Cold.
Lost until the end of eternity.
------- Author's Notes -------
Just reread it, and the first line doesn't mean I have cancer.. It's a metaphor.. |
