Snowflake

I am a snowflake falling from the sky.
When I land will I melt or die?
Many of my friends follow me, with the wind we go.
Where will it take us, I just don't know?
Closer & closer to my destiny, my eyes wide open what will I see?
Fancy buildings people all around. Cars, trucks making loud sounds.
Not many smiles upon their face.
What happen to these people in this place?
I feel a sadness as I fly on by, a few tears is it my time?
The wind has taken me on the outskirts of town.
I closed my eyes before I hit the ground.
As I opened them ever so slow, I felt lost scared totally alone.
Then I saw many of my friends from this great fall.
Maybe this won't be so bad after all.
We laid to rest on this cold wintry night.
With our sparkles reflecting we cuddled real tight.
I know my days are numbered when the warmth makes its way.
I'm just not ready to melt away.
All of a sudden people talking all around
Let’s make the best snowman in town.
Here I go being rolled into a ball standing well over 6ft tall.
Something different about these people I hear and see.
Their laughing, smiling, taking pictures of me.
So here I stand being part of the best snowman in town.
My friends and I are enjoying the laughter of the crowd.
Now here comes that warm day I was talking about.
It's time for me to melt and nourish the ground.
Don't worry I'll see you again, just look up.
I'm the one smiling in those cold, cold winds.

This is such a pleasant read Marty, i love the touch of snow strokin' against my face. cold yes but, it doesn't happen that often, oh how i remember the many trips my husband would make to the highest altitude of mountains just for me to see touch and fall in love with because of what the snow did for me. this is such a warm lovin' thought of snowflakes driftin' from the sky i love it..makes me smile from the inside out through and through thank you soooo much for sharin' just a lovely thought.

Thank you for your comment. Just think something as small as a snow flake is the start of making people laugh and have fun making a snowman snow- angels ect.

Snowaches!

Here it comes snow, someone smashed it down with their tires, now compacted. I'm coming around the corner/w my bike. Front tire slides out from me, slamming me to the rocky ground, face planting on the road, spitting snow out of my mouth. Snow! You sure know how to hurt a guy. Love your poem Marty! Thanks! Snowaches!
