Dream From -of- You
26 September, 2002
Author: David
Like rain down a gutter
it eludes me
Vagrant memories
swirling smoke
dissipates
In a dream
moments ago
reaching out
to bring it back
But on the tip of my tongue
is where it stays
remainder of a shadow
Like rain down a gutter
it eludes me
Through my fingers
and out of my head
a clever bird escapes the snare
empty meanings?
prophetic truth?
chemical delusions?
The memory is no longer mine
but still it lingers on
I close my eye
and see the water
Pristine ponds
and deep lakes
trickling brooks
and raging rivers
The flood threatens
as it rises
and then...
Like rain down a gutter
it eludes me
