Nights Before
9 January, 2006
Author: Clive B Ringshall
As I lay here and hear the story you tell,
You glisten in different ways each time I see you,
Do you remember our first night together?
Do you remember how clear the night’s sky was?
As I captured your look through a camera that sees,
You shone so bright I was sure you’d go nova,
Still you shine with that outstanding pride,
Many we’ve known have fallen away,
Giving a wish only to those that see,
Others shine but no longer glow,
Never forgotten in the blanket above,
A blanket that protects me through day and night
The clouds are gone and I see you so clear,
There in a place were your needed the most,
What do you see as you look upon?
Does my image shine as bright?
When I see your warmth in that guiding light,
My fears subside with you showing my way,
Do you see my love that overspills?
Do you feel as I; that tonight’s the night?
I see your look much brighter than before,
As you shine just for me,
I know your free and not mine alone,
But as I’m here tonight your mine for now,
My age has extended in this one sided connection,
My eyes no longer see you looking once bright,
Still I see your outline and just know it’s you,
I wonder if you still remember our night.
