For Madison

You place your tiny hand in mine
And gaze into my eyes
Love lights up your precious face
Suddenly you reach for me
Clasping little arms around my neck
You hold on close
You hold me tight
The scent of lavendar lingering in your hair
Your skin so soft against my cheek
We hold each other fast
You utter words so clear and true
I love you Na-Na
I really do
You hold on close
You hold me tight
A tear slides down my cheek
I ask myself where have I been?
Searching for a love so true
When all the while
It's been waiting
Right here for me in you
------- Author's Notes -------
I wrote this for my grandaughter, who means the world to me. She is a god-send and has shown me what it means to love unconditionally. |
