A Parent's Lament
18 January, 2006
Author: Catyrose
Listening to the words you say
They pierce my distressed heart
A cold harsh silence follows
Suddenly your voice rises
Echoing across the telephone wires
Accusations flung wildly at your bewildered target
Gazing at the instrument in hand
Confusion takes hold of my fragile spirit
Longing for sanity I close my eyes and pray
For the strength to turn and walk away
From the madness of the moment
Cautiously and quietly the receiver is replaced
The storm ended as swiftly as it began
I sit in solitude, savoring the stillness
Longing for a permanet escape
From the lunacy that fills your mind
Forever heaped upon my battered soul
