You Just Smile At Me
9 February, 2006
Author: ShyHeart
Another day at work, this has been a hard one, but I don't think of myself
I see you washing all the clothes and your ironing board takes every wrinkle out
You pay all the bills, clean our home, visit with our neighbor; she's old but
Young. Then, I come home, open up the door, you are in the kitchen, smells
Terrific, just like all the nights before, when I came home and opened up our door
We sit down to supper, I drop my fork on my plate when I see you smile at me
We laugh like children, we love, we go to our secret place and love, love
How we love, we catch our hearts and bring them back to each other. time
To play on the swings. I push and wait for you; you laugh out loud
Then you suggest let's play on the Merry-Go-Round. I run and push
You circle my heart and I hear you laugh, as I fall on my face
I start to cry, that hurt, you take me in your arms, pain goes away
Now, its time to play on the slide. I'm high above and come crashing down
Then, the whistle blows, recess is over; time for more education
We hold hands, we walk back to the class-room and I say
I'm starving, wonder what I'll have tonight for supper
You don't say a word, you just smile at me
