Reality Of War
10 February, 2006
Author: Keith
I wake up to the reality filled with hostility
From soldiers fighting for freedom and liberty
Fighting for that which others do not have
Peace resolutions fall through and it’s sad
That violence is the only means to the way of an end
So many lives are lost, the world will never mend
Money is poured into weapons of war
While people are starving as they lay on the floor
Without the hope of being something more
They live and die as if it doesn’t matter anymore
Lost hope floats with no one to care
Pain that no one should have to bear
Secluded in desolation in the destruction of life
Only the small light of peace makes this right
On and on the bullets fly the bombs fall
Reigning “justice” from the heavens, down on the small
When the dust settles, bodies lie in ashes
Hate emanating from all of their gashes
Screams echoing through the murderous air
As families pray for their dead, then glare
At the reality of war in all of its deeds
The power that blinds those without needs
And the cycle continues with war breeding hate
Violence continues as if it were fate
And so we desperately continue to wage war
Hoping that on the other side is a door
A door to a peace found only by death
A peace that will last to our dying breath
