If I Closed My Eyes Tonight
12 February, 2006
Author: Catyrose
If I closed my eyes tonight and never faced another dawn
Would you miss me?
Would a tear fall?
On endless chilly nights would you dream of our times together?
The times we were certain would last on into forever
On scorching summer days would you still feel the warmth
of your skin next to mine
Lying side by side in the red-hot sunshine?
When the fresh autumn breeze
Floats thru the trees
Causing the leaves to fall
Would you hear my call?
When the snow clouds appear
And the winter draws near
Would you recall
Our times together we’re
By far the best of all?
If a monarch paused in flight
On a sweet summer night
To rest upon your finger
Would loving memories yet linger?
Today is all I have to share
To show those I love how much I care
If tomorrow never comes
And my time here is said and done
I trust you will remember
The times we spent together
A smile will cross your face
For upon your heart I’ve left a lasting, loving trace
