The Merry-go-round
16 February, 2006
Author: Catyrose
Standing on the sidelines I watch the show
Of two starr-crossed lovers I have come to know
Back and forth
Round and round
Like children playing on a merry go-round
Pastel pinks and baby blues
Carousel horses gliding up and down
Back and forth
Round and round
A woman-child swept off her feet
Mistaking his attentions as a heart felt treat
Carousel stallion spinning without a care
Carnival tunes posing a counterfeit air
Back and forth
Round and round
The young woman hangs on to truths never spoken
From the man she has mistakenly chosen
Cotton candy and dreams come true
These are the things he’s promised you
Back and forth
Round and round
You’ll keep on spinning with his every whim
As years whirl by and dreams grow thin

Catyrose (128.123.220.207) -- Friday, April 14 2006, 08:07 am Terrie* a time or two. I wrote this thinking of a family member. But I a guess this has applied to all of us at sometime in our lives. You are so right, a very lonely ride. Hope time is kind! Thanks for your comments. Your words are always valued so very much. Take care :) |
