The Family Circle
17 February, 2006
Author: Catyrose
Gathered around the table tonight
Burdens lifted and feeling light
Toddlers running wild and free
Precious baby, bouncing on my knee
Laughter tinkling through the air
Feeling peaceful, without a care
Tonight we sit and share a meal
And tell each other how we feel
Smiling faces in this room
Dispel a former sense of gloom
Happiness is found right here
A family now, we spread good cheer
A place I’ve come to call my home
No longer do I feel alone
For I have now become a part
Of this family’s warm and loving heart
A family chosen, not by birth
We blend together and determine our own worth
Bound by choice, no longer chance
In today’s world, we all define our own stance
------- Author's Notes -------
Written for my single-parent friends as we persevere to determine our own concept of family. |
