Backstage Baby
20 February, 2006
Author: Catyrose
Who made you the omnipotent one?
Who gave you the right to determine her fate?
Orchestrating her performance with the snap of your wand
Filling her mind with tunes that go nowhere
Composed with grandiose flair
You placed her upon the platform only you could have created
Relegated to a minor role
Not even your supporting actress will she be
While you assume center stage for all to see
She remains in the shadow of your blinding presence
Spotlight searching through the drama
Passing her by as she clings to promises
Made by a dark and deceitful heart
Slowly the curtain begins to part
Thunderous applause rising, deafening to her ears
He swaggers up and on the stage
Bowing slightly from the waist
A charismatic smile lights up this actor’s face
Silently slipping out the playhouse door
Backstage baby disappears
As tears of rain begin to fall
Waiting, always waiting
In the wings, for his next curtain call

Clive (71.38.216.185) -- Monday, February 20 2006, 10:21 pm I really felt each letter that made these words come to life. They remind me of a (not) man, who trapped a girl I see more as a daughter. Thanks for letting these words find there way to our eyes |
Catyrose (128.123.220.22) -- Tuesday, February 21 2006, 04:45 am This was one of those that just flowed out in a rush of emotion. Thanks for appreciating my efforts and being affected by them. |
MC (205.188.117.65) -- Tuesday, February 21 2006, 07:02 pm ....high school students will be required to study your words, and asked to emulate them. Such purity of thought, so much clarity and light. As always, I'm so impressed. |
Catyrose (128.123.220.65) -- Tuesday, February 21 2006, 08:17 pm Thank you so much. You are much too kind! Sometimes I write and wonder if anyone can understand the message I am trying to convey. I hadn't written for many many years so lack the confidence I once had. Your kind comments were a real boost. THANK YOU!!! |
