This Angel
22 February, 2006
Author: Marion Carroll
Make a wish upon a star, then lay your head to rest.
This Angel holds you near her heart, within her gossamer nest.
Breathe deeply. You are safe. Fear nothing while you sleep.
I'll wake the dreams within you, and all their secrets keep.
That's not the wind you're feeling. It's my breath upon your skin.
You'll know that I am ever near, when danger closes in.
When you find the dark surrounds, just close your eyes to see;
the path is laid before you, if you'll just walk with me.
Each step you take, I'm with you. You're always in my sight.
I will give you clarity with the gift of heaven's light.
Be brave, be strong, be sure. Go boldly where you must.
I'm right there on your shoulder. In this, you can always trust.
Forge onward with assurance that you'll never be alone.
I'll always walk beside you, until I bring you home.
So give your all in all you do, and never feel regret.
God put you where you're meant to be and I'm your safety net.
I'll give you strength and vision, and when you feel alarmed;
I'm here to be your gaurdian, to keep you from all harm.
I prize this job of loving you, and just one thing I ask:
Call on me. Believe in me. And I will do my task.
This Angel holds you near her heart, within her gossamer nest.
So, make a wish upon a star, then lay your head to rest.
------- Author's Notes -------
Written for my son when I knew he was going to be deployed to Iraq. He's in God's hands now, and under his care, but I will always be the Angel who watches over him and prays for his safety. |

Terrie* (66.81.139.97) -- Friday, June 23 2006, 12:03 am My Prayers are with you as well as the ones God wraps around your son. i am there for you ! I bow my head and welcome every tear that falls upon my lips and finds comfort in my heart, for they are tears of many mothers with sons and other family members that stand along your son... |
MC (205.188.117.65) -- Friday, June 23 2006, 12:42 am I pray for my son and all the other troops, who are fighting for our freedoms, every day. The recent torture and beheading murders of Kristian Menchaca and Thomas Tucker hit a little too close to home, as they were members of my sons particular unit. My prayers and condolences are with the families of those 2 young men. |

Terrie* (66.81.136.155) -- Friday, June 23 2006, 01:23 am MC ,yes i know how close this hit your heart, i was told about the beheadin' . a few of us gathered this mornin' in my home , puttin' everything at the back burner,and placed prayer for Kristian and Thomas's family. we sent 2 of their family members to deliver strength to the parents in totally different directions. no one should be tortured in the nature that they were.. i stand next to you holdin' your hand , as we bow in silent prayer... |
MC (205.188.117.65) -- Friday, June 23 2006, 01:40 am means the world to me. You are right. NO ONE should endure what these boys suffered. Where are the cries by our countrymen now, of "Atrocity"? Why are our enemies not held to the same standards of fair treatment of prisoners, as we are? |
