Mellow Dramatic
1 May, 2000
Author: Diana
Wrapped up in white linen shrouds
That melt into form
like soft, sweet butter,
Silent clouds
float by in the shapes
of dragon ships
set sail
on the deep blue Baltic of the sky.
Tell me why you never
reach for the stars
right above you,
shimmering
like an undulating woman
in a silver, sequined dress.
I can only guess that you think it silly
to send wishes to a distant sun
that is suspended in the dark sea of space.
Is it your face I see
when shapes shift behind these closed lids?
You are
dancing and twirling
in a shadow play,
Act one, scene two,
Directed by the ancient script
all lovers follow.
Today I think I will call the wind,
speak your name
to conjure up my heart,
mold it like clay
and send it crashing to your front door
in glorious bundles of love and light.
I just might sing you songs
of the golden thread
that weaves through your soul,
ties you to me
and this endless tapestry of life.
Will you hear the wondrous sound?
The high tones
and the low,
blend into a mutual harmony.
Can you see the notes
float on a river of air?
My words perhaps, yearning
to seek your ear?
Out here in the orchards,
the bees hum earthly melodies to the trees,
telling secrets of how to come back to me.
First one step,
then another,
in a waltz as old as time,
until eventually you see me in the distance
getting closer with every breath,
waving for you to put your hand in mine
in the warm glow
of my love
