The Winds Of Change
1 March, 2006
Author: Catyrose
As my feet hit the pavement this morning
I longed to keep going
To where I do not know
It's time for a change
I can feel it as I move forward
My back to the cold and blustery wind
Propelled onward by an unknown force
Taking hold of my hand
Pulling, pushing, shoving me away from the familiar
Faces I have to come to know
The time has come to let you go
Wanderlust is upon me again
Restlessness consumes my soul
In need of direction
I long to break free
Of what others perceive
As my destiny
Those who think they know me
Haven’t got a clue
Acting as protectors
They squelch and smother
The person I long to be
Please stop caring
Or pretending as if you do
I can’t move forward with you by my side
Playing childish games
One up, one down
I can’t go on this way
Not even for one more day
It’s tearing me apart
No longer will I allow you to play
With this too sensitive of hearts
Cruel words veiled in a sadistic sense of humor
Hurled my way
Satisfaction you derive
As the tears well up inside
I’ll never understand it
I’ll never comprehend
Why it is you continue to believe
That you can call yourself
A friend
