Been down to the valley
And so very far below
Rose up to the mountain tops
Teetered perilously close to the edge
Rescued in the nick of time
By an angel floating by
Grasped me by the collar
Shook me with such might
Till I came to my senses
One cold and lonely night
Looking up to the heavens
I prayed
Take this burden from me
I no longer wish to bear
Take me lord into your loving care
Left those days behind me
And forward I did go
Grateful for each new day that I have come to know
Blessed in ways I often do not see
Tonight I’ll remember how he once rescued me
He opened my eyes
He forced me to see
That life is but a precious gift
Loaned only for a time
Not to be wasted
In selfish misery
Long ago and far away
My savior set me free
