Blue Light Reflections
27 March, 2006
Author: Pondering Red
Got off the bus
on Ste. Catherine east,
a ride through a potpourri
of commercials and people
watching people
on and on and on....
In this blue light district,
I saw-
abandoned stores,
plastered with posters-
torn and ripped-
which created designs
of their own.
I saw
collages
of paper and people,
accentuated by the falling rain-
Reflections
on sidewalks-
as pretty as any
I've ever seen.
I turned many corners.
Art jumped out at me-
almost flourescent.
I took hundreds
of pictures.
I took my mind away
from problems,
lists of things.
I was here now-
amidst the
stickers, and scribbles,
and scrawls, murals,graffitti
and drawings-
art, art, art-
plastered, postered-
splattered like the
neverending rain-
reflecting
city beauty.
I walked alot,
past drop-in churches,
past people
without homes,
past bodys wandering,
past ads of erotica.
In this
rough and tumble,shaggy
hood,
the streets
were illuminated
with ExPrEsSiOn-
It was here
I found
such
raw beauty.
------- Author's Notes -------
-once the red light district, in Montreal, now I call it the blue light district...many changes...now thriving with drugs and poverty, yet beautiful graffitti at the same time. |
