A Brighter Shade Of Blue

Over this land of forgotten
my thoughts drift back to us
times of laughter, and love.
When holding you was something familiar,
and tears seemed to never escape my eyes.
Skies of blue, much brighter then now...
took us to our dreams of forever.
Your love was planted deep within my heart
then you uprooted us, and tore off my branches.
I withered away in the wind, and
faded into the unknown.
I couldn't grow without your love
the sun couldn't heal my wounds.
I crawled upon burning sands,
as I hungered for your touch.
You crushed me, and I laid there lifeless
like tattered leaves beaten by a storm.
You twisted our love into broken
lies, and destroyed our dreams.
My roots rotted away, but my life I reshaped.
A brighter shade of blue fades with my memories
my memories of you, and now I walk in darker skies.
